What is a Patent?

Requirements for Patent:

Patent should be new, involve inventive step and capable of industrial application only then it can be patented in India. Need to ensure such invention shall not fall into the category of inventions that are non-patentable as provided under sections 3 and 4 of the (Indian) Patents Act, 1970.

Grant of Right:

A Patent is an exclusive right granted by GOI to an inventor/patentee to exclude others from manufacturing, using, offering for sale, selling or importing the invention in India.
